Group Work

Your team is capable. The culture isn’t keeping up.

“With James we were able to truly create a culture-first environment. It’s something I think we’re most proud of. It’s been like rocket-fuel for the group both in terms of our performance and just general satisfaction across the team.”

Developing high-performance cultures

Culture is not a values document. It's the sum of how people actually behave with each other, under pressure, in conflict, when nobody senior is watching.

Most teams function despite their culture rather than because of it. The dynamics are there, the avoidance, the unspoken tensions, the feedback nobody gives. They're just not being worked with. That's what I do with groups.

Working Together:

Every engagement starts with a briefing. I want to understand the specific challenge before proposing anything, because a team navigating rapid growth needs something different from a leadership team in conflict, which needs something different from an organisation trying to define what it stands for.

From there I design a programme around what the group actually needs. This might be a single full-day workshop, a series of sessions over several months, a blend of group work and one-to-one coaching for key leaders, or an ongoing consultancy relationship.

The work typically covers some combination of: leadership development, conflict and feedback, group dynamics, values and behaviours, communication and presentation skills, and culture change.

Why It Works

I bring a therapeutic training to group work that most facilitators don't have. Groups have unconscious dynamics just as individuals do, and being able to read and work with those dynamics, rather than just delivering content at a group, is what makes the difference between a workshop people forget and one that actually changes something.

Let’s Talk

If you're a founder, HR leader, or senior manager thinking about your team's culture, get in touch. The first conversation is straightforward and confidential.

“James was super personable, engaging and the whole team got so much out of the session. He gave us some practical tips on how to deploy empathy as a core learnable skill in our day-to-day, including theory, fun breakout exercises and some handy hints and tricks we could start trialling straight away.

Everyone across the department regardless of level and years of experience has commented how much they got from the session personally. We would happily recommend James and his services.”
